2025 ICC Award for Max O’Dowd for record score

The ICC has awarded the 2025 Men’s Associate Batting Award to Max O’Dowd. The opening batsman of the Dutch men’s team owes this honour to the monumental career-best 158 not out he made against Scotland in June 2025.

Thanks to a brilliant 191 by George Munsey, the Scots reached 369 runs on that day in the WCL2 One Day International. Backed by swift half-centuries from Teja Nidamanuru and Noah Croes, the Dutch team surpassed the Scottish mega-score with four balls to go. O’Dowd’s crucial 158 not out off 130 balls included thirteen fours and four sixes.

Max O’Dowd: “I am grateful for and proud of this award. It was a special day for Dutch cricket. The pitch was flat, obviously, considering Munsey’s amazing innings. The high target allowed me to play freely, and it was great to be able to contribute to this record run chase for the Netherlands.”

Max O’Dowd has now scored over 2,000 runs in both formats, ODI and T20I.
