Cricket is not just about the game on the pitch; it also relies on the accuracy of recording individual and team performances. As a scorer, you play a pivotal role in documenting runs, wickets, and other key moments that shape the course of a match.

Are you precise, detail-oriented, and a team player? Then scoring might be perfect for you! Whether you choose traditional book scoring, linear styles, or electronic scoring, there are countless ways to hone your scoring skills.

The KNCB offers a wide range of courses for both clubs and individual scorers. Develop the essential skills needed to become a proficient scorer and contribute to your team's success.

ECB ACO Level 1 (Club Scorer)

For Whom?
A two-day course organised by the KNCB in the Netherlands at a central location. This course serves as preparation for the ECB ACO Level 2 (Planning & Preparation) follow-up course. It is designed for (parents/guardians of) cricketers, cricket enthusiasts, and others who have completed the Basic Scoring Course (online course).

Note: This course may be conducted in a combination of Dutch and English, as needed or desired.

ECB ACO Certification
To obtain this certification, participants must submit 10 score sheets from matches they have scored for assessment.

These score sheets will be reviewed by the KNCB Scorers' Committee.

KNCB Certification
After completing the two-day course, participants will be registered as a 'Recognised Scorer', qualified to score in THE-class matches.
Upon successful evaluation of the 10 submitted score sheets, the scorer will be registered as a 'Level 1 Scorer' and will also be eligible to score regional matches in addition to THE-class competition matches.

Costs
€75.00 per person (participants who submit 10 scorecards during or after the 2025 season will receive a €25 refund).

ECB ACO Level 2 (Planning and Preparation)

For Whom?
A one-day course organised in the Netherlands for scorers certified as ECB ACO Level 1 (Club Scorer).
Membership of ECB ACO is required to participate. You can find the ECB ACO registration form [here]. The annual membership fee is approximately €20.

Note: This course will be conducted in English.

ECB ACO Certification
After completing the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
To obtain the full certification, participants must submit 10 score sheets from matches they have scored for assessment by the ECB ACO. Additionally, they are required to provide assessments from fellow scorers.

Participants will then have a final discussion with an ECB ACO assessor (in-person if possible, otherwise online) to review the score sheets and peer assessments.

KNCB Certification
After obtaining ECB ACO certification, participants will be registered with the KNCB as ‘International Scorers’. They may then be invited to score at official international matches.

Linear scoring

This course teaches existing scorers how to complete a linear scoresheet, which is an alternative format to the conventional box-style paper scoresheet.

The course includes a substantial practical component in which a recorded match is scored, following an introduction to the layout of the linear scoresheet.

Linear scoresheets serve as a reliable back-up system when scoring electronically.

Target Audience
A one-day course organised in the Netherlands, intended for 'KNCB-recognised' scorers and scorers certified at ECB ACO Level 1 (Club Scorer) and ECB ACO Level 2.

Certification
Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

€50 per person, including study materials and lunch.
